The new Indonesian Navy warship, KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321, finally docked at Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta on Thursday morning (26), after sailing from the La Spezia Naval Base in Italy.

Upon arrival at Pier 107 of Tanjung Priok Port, the commander of KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321, Colonel (N) Kurniawan Koes Atmaja, disembarked to report to the TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto.

“This morning, we have just received the arrival of KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321, which departed from La Spezia, Italy, to the homeland in 44 days,” said the Navy Chief of Staff Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali during a press conference.

He explained that the journey of KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 took considerable time as it circumnavigated the Atlantic Ocean to the Indian Ocean before arriving in Lampung on Monday (23/3) and finally docking in Jakarta.

According to Ali, KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 has the same specifications as KRI Brawijaya-321, which was also produced by the Italian shipyard Fincantieri and has been placed in the Second Fleet Command several months ago.

“This ship is the second of the Brawijaya class from Fincantieri, Italy. The condition or status of this ship is almost the same as Brawijaya because it is the same class and type. The equipment and capabilities are also the same,” Ali explained.

He stated that KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 will also be placed in the Second Fleet Command, Surabaya, East Java.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Navy Information Service Admiral TNI Tunggul explained that KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 began its first departure from Italy to Indonesia on 11 February 2026.

After departing from Italy, the ship made stops in various countries, such as the Kingdom of Morocco and Nigeria. During the stops, the commander of KRI along with several officers conducted port visits and courtesy calls.

“This reflects Indonesia’s commitment to building a modern naval defence force while strengthening friendships with friendly nations,” said Tunggul, as per the press release.

He said that KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321, which measures 143 metres in length and 16.5 metres in width, has undergone testing of its defence equipment capabilities and combat readiness before arriving in the homeland.

The warship is equipped with a main OTO Melara 127 millimetre gun, a 76 millimetre Strales gun for medium-range air targets, 16 vertical missile launchers for air attacks, Teseo Mk-2E missiles for surface targets, anti-submarine torpedoes, and close-in automatic weapons.

The Navy believes that the presence of KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 reinforces the TNI’s steps in strengthening and modernising the fleet’s weapon systems, while also demonstrating Indonesia’s commitment to defending and securing maritime territories.

“This reflects Indonesia’s readiness to build a high-technology-based defence force, while addressing future maritime security challenges,” he added.
