New heads at foreign ministry
JAKARTA (JP): Two new directors were inducted at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Jl. Pejambon yesterday.
Nazarudin Nasution was inaugurated as the new director of American affairs while Ibrahim Yusuf as director of Africa and Middle East Affairs.
Nazarudin, formerly head of political affairs at the Indonesian Embassy in Canada, replaces Syamsul B. Siregar who has been promoted as ambassador to Bulgaria.
Ibrahim, formerly head of the political affairs section at the Indonesian Embassy in Australia, replaces Djamaris B. Suleman who will soon depart to his new posting as ambassador to Syria.
The American along with the Asia and Middle East Affairs divisions are part of the four regional directorates under the Foreign Ministry's Directorate General of Political Affairs, headed by Izhar Ibrahim who led yesterday's ceremony.
There was still no announcement about who will fill the post of the ministry's director of information in place of Irawan Abidin, who has been appointed ambassador to Greece. (mds)
