New golf and country club now accepting membership

JAKARTA (JP): The 250-hectare Royal Gading Golf & Country Club in the Gading Serpong residential area of Tangerang will open later this year.

"PT Jakartabaru Golf & Country Club, which will manage the facility, is selling memberships now," Lexy A. Tumiwa, a director of PT Summarecon Agung, said yesterday.

He said world-class experts and professionals are pooling their resources in handling the various components and features of the US$40 million golf course and country club.

The golf course was designed by Graham Marsh. The golf club and country club were designed by the Rice Daubney Group. Both designers are from Australia.

The interiors are being handled by the top American Hirsch/Bedner & Associates designers who have made their mark on the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Jakarta, Tumiwa said.

He said that PT Taisei-PP Joint Operation, which has successfully built around 200 golf courses in several countries, is carrying out the project construction.

"PT Jakartabaru Golf and Country Club, a joint venture between PT Summarecon Agung group and the Batik Keris group, will manage the whole facility. Its daily operations will be overseen by CCA International Ltd.," Tumiwa said.

The Royal Gading Golf Course will boast a total of 27 holes. Each of the holes will have a golf shelter, serving as an example of the unique architectural and cultural character of each of Indonesia's 27 provinces.

Tumiwa said the golf club and country club house, which together offer 15,000 square meters of space, will be supplemented by various other indoor facilities, including a fitness center, a swimming pool, games and drawing rooms for children and an international banquet room.

The golf course also will boast 10 manmade lakes and a lake driving range.

"On top of that, Royal Gading Golf and Country Club membership cards will automatically be accepted at more than 150 leading international clubs around the world, including those in Tokyo, Osaka, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Sydney, Perth and Melbourne," Tumiwa added. (vin)
