JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Mitsubishi Motors Corporation has announced it will revive its legendary vehicle, the Pajero, in autumn 2026 or by the end of this year. In its official statement, Mitsubishi described the model as an all-new cross-country SUV, which will once again use the Pajero name. The return of the Pajero also puts an end to speculation surrounding a mysterious SUV that previously appeared in a Mitsubishi Ralliart teaser video. Mitsubishi has now confirmed the model will indeed revert to the Pajero name after it was discontinued from global markets in 2021, approximately five years ago. First introduced in 1982, the Pajero was developed as a recreational vehicle (RV) combining four-wheel-drive off-road capability with passenger car comfort. Over four generations, the Pajero evolved into one of Mitsubishi Motors’ legendary SUVs. Globally, sales have exceeded 3.25 million units across more than 170 countries. For the new generation, Mitsubishi appears to be developing the all-new Pajero using Triton’s ladder frame. However, the cabin and front and rear suspension have undergone specific enhancements to deliver improved ride comfort. In addition to handling tough terrain, the new SUV is claimed to offer a smoother and more comfortable driving experience.
