The construction of a pedestrian footbridge (JPO) on the southern side of Bekasi Station, specifically on Jalan Ir H Juanda, Margajaya Ward, South Bekasi Subdistrict, Bekasi City, is targeted for completion in about 1.5 months ahead.

The Head of the Bekasi City Public Works and Water Resources Department (DBMSDA), Idi Sutanto, stated that the project is currently in the structural construction phase.

“This is still in process, so the framework has already started being built; hopefully, it will be completed in 1.5 months,” Idi said when contacted by Kompas.com via message on Friday (17/4/2026).

“We asked an investor to build the JPO. As compensation, they can install advertisements there,” he added.

He also assured that all permits, which had previously been an obstacle, have now been settled, including those from PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) and the Ministry of Transportation.

“On Jalan Juanda, the traffic jams are extraordinary, with many crossings. Once the JPO is built, we want it to connect directly to the station from above,” he explained.

He hopes the presence of the JPO will reduce the habit of KRL passengers crossing directly on the road.

“This way, everyone crossing Jalan Juanda will go over the top, and no one will go under,” said Idi.

Nevertheless, the future function of the JPO will be further studied with the Transportation Department (Dishub), including the possibility of making it the main access to the station.

The stair framework as well as barriers on the right and left sides are also visible as already installed.

In addition, several construction information banners are still posted along Jalan Ir H Juanda.
