New flights to eastern regions
BANDUNG: The Pelita Air Service will next week begin regular
flights to Indonesia's eastern regions using 73-seat Fokker-28
planes, said company director Soeratman.
He said that beginning from Nov. 15, Pelita would fly from
Bandung to Surabaya and Denpasar, and continue flying to eastern
cities, including Kupang, Maumere, Waingapu, Makassar and
Kendari.
"The new service, named 'Bandung-KTI' (Indonesian eastern
regions), will be conducted once a day from the Husen
Sastranegara airport in Bandung," Soeratman said, adding that the
flight will be scheduled to depart Bandung at 6:15 a.m.
"The service...is aimed at connecting Bandung as a city of
business, tourism and education with some eastern regions,"
Soeratman said at the launching of the service in Bandung on
Tuesday night.
He said many students and lecturers from eastern regions
studied in Bandung, a city whose factory outlets had lured
tourists from across the country. -- Antara
