New Facts in YTR Confinement Case: Family Had Been Searching, Even Threatened to Report to Police
The case of confinement and alleged torture experienced by a woman with the initials YTR at the hands of her boyfriend, TH, in Bandung, West Java, has garnered widespread public attention. Amidst the spotlight, assumptions arose that the victim’s family did nothing while YTR was missing. However, during the period the victim was unaccounted for, YTR’s older sibling and sibling-in-law were known to have continuously attempted to search for and trace the victim’s whereabouts. The victim’s sister-in-law, Melanie, had even asked her husband to look for YTR at her boarding house in the Pasteur area. This was because Melanie noticed something odd, as YTR had claimed to have been transferred to Majalengka and was only communicating with the family once a month. ‘This child had no news for a month. I told my husband to try searching the boarding house in Pasteur. I said, “I have a bad feeling.” Maybe she was still working in Pasteur but didn’t tell us because she was afraid of bothering us. My husband stopped by and she was indeed no longer there, but her belongings were still there. I thought, okay, she really did go to Majalengka,’ she said, as quoted from Denny Sumargo’s YouTube channel on Monday, 22 June 2026. Melanie also asked her husband to visit YTR’s old office in Pasteur to seek information about her sister-in-law. Upon arriving there, Melanie’s husband met YTR’s colleagues. At that time, Melanie’s husband, Arif, was informed by YTR’s colleague that his sister-in-law had resigned four months prior. However, the resignation letter was not sent by YTR but by TH. ‘I asked, “Is Yupi still here?” “She left four months ago.” Since the news of the transfer, the one who sent the resignation letter was not Yupi but a man,’ said Arif. It was also revealed that the perpetrator, TH, had once visited YTR’s office and vented his anger at the HRD and the victim’s manager. ‘She had resigned 4-5 months ago, but the one who sent the resignation letter was a man, because the perpetrator had thrown a tantrum and threatened the HRD and manager, saying Yupi’s work was being pushed too hard with constant overtime. He wouldn’t accept it. He told my younger sibling to resign because of the constant overtime. My husband called me to say my sister-in-law had already left. Ah, she’s definitely been taken away, I said, that was already my gut feeling,’ said Melanie.
