President Prabowo Subianto has signed a presidential decree appointing Kuntadi as the new Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), replacing Febrie Adriansyah. Concurrently, Prabowo appointed other new officials within the Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung).

This was announced by Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi during a press conference at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/7/2026). Prasetyo stated that the decree was in accordance with the proposal submitted by Attorney General ST Burhanuddin.

“Regarding the presidential decree, in accordance with the assessment of the Final Assessment Team and as proposed by the Attorney General, the President signed the decree yesterday,” Pras said.

Alongside the decree, Pras also revealed the appointment of Asep Nana Mulyana as Deputy Attorney General. The full list of new appointments includes:

  1. Asep Nana Mulyana as Deputy Attorney General

  2. Leonard Ebenezer Simanjuntak as Junior Attorney General for General Crimes (Jampidum)

  3. Kuntadi as Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus)

  4. Harli Siregar as Head of the Attorney General’s Education and Training Agency

  5. Patris Yusrian Jaya as Head of the Attorney General’s Asset Recovery Agency.

Pras explained that the appointments are legally effective through the presidential decree and do not require a direct inauguration by the President. The officials have formally assumed their new positions.

Regarding Kuntadi’s appointment, Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra deemed it appropriate. “If the President has agreed, it means the President has carefully considered that he is the right person to hold the position of Jampidsus,” Yusril said at the Presidential Palace complex on Wednesday (22/7).

Yusril acknowledged the public’s desire for the corruption case involving the former Jampidsus to be handled thoroughly. He expressed hope that the Attorney General’s Office would work accordingly. “We hope the Attorney General’s Office will work on the track, in line with our expectations, so that the law is enforced fairly and with certainty,” he stated.

Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Habiburokhman, expressed full confidence in the new Jampidsus. He urged Kuntadi to immediately and thoroughly investigate the case involving his predecessor, Febrie Adriansyah.

“I, Habiburokhman, as Chairman of Commission III DPR RI, congratulate Mr. Kuntadi on his appointment as the new Jampidsus. He is known as a clean, high-integrity, and independent prosecutor,” Habiburokhman said on Thursday (23/7).

Habiburokhman placed great hope in Kuntadi to resolve the Febrie case and stressed that the handling must be transparent. “Under his leadership, I hope the alleged corruption case of Febrie Adriansyah can be investigated quickly, transparently, and fairly to its conclusion,” he said.

For Habiburokhman, the Febrie case is not an ordinary matter. He believes the case puts the image of the Attorney General’s Office as a law enforcement institution in Indonesia at stake. “The image of the Adhyaksa Corps is currently at stake. Do not let the good name and public trust in the prosecution institution be tarnished by the actions of an individual,” he stressed.
