The redevelopment of the heritage area in Denpasar, Bali, continues to be accelerated as of Wednesday (16/09/2026). The project, which commenced in late July 2026, aims to showcase the unique identity of Denpasar City.

Observations at several locations indicate that work is still ongoing. On Jalan MH Thamrin, the rearrangement of pavements and pedestrian walkways has begun. Meanwhile, at the entrance to Jalan Gajah Mada, the dredging of culverts and the installation of concrete irrigation beams are underway. In the eastern part of the area, specifically around the Denpasar Mayor’s Office or the ‘zero point’ of the Catur Muka Statue, work is also continuing, with labourers seen concreting roads and installing small paving blocks.

Work on several statues and parts of the road medians at the intersection, including female ornaments that are part of the Denpasar heritage area, is also still in progress.

“The work process is still ongoing,” said the Head of the Denpasar City Public Works and Spatial Planning Department (PUPR), I Gede Cipta Sudewa Atmaja, on Wednesday morning.

However, Cipta could not yet confirm the exact percentage of completion for the heritage area redevelopment project.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Road and Bridge Division of the Denpasar City PUPR, Ida Ayu Trisuci Arnawati, had not provided a statement when contacted regarding the progress of the work on Wednesday morning.

The redevelopment of the heritage area is targeted to be completed before the Denpasar Festival at the end of 2026. The project is expected to be finished by 13 December 2026.
