The Directorate General of Taxes at the Ministry of Finance (DJP Kemenkeu) has revealed that tax audits will in future be centralised through Coretax, in order to extend the reach of taxation in Indonesia.

Director General of Taxes Bimo Wijayanto said one of the efforts to broaden the tax net through Coretax is device interoperability, which will allow data exchange within the Ministry of Finance relating to taxation in Indonesia.

“How do we reach further? One way is through the interoperability of our Coretax system. There will be data exchange between systems within the Ministry of Finance, DJP, Customs, and the Directorate General of Treasury (DJPb). There will also be interoperability with third-party data portals, with mass batch data transfers from agencies, institutions, associations, and other parties,” he said at the 2026 Tax Dialogue on Monday (13 July 2026).

The aim of interoperability within Coretax is to make tax oversight more effective, as the available data will be mutually integrated.

“The goal is one: we obtain internal and external data that is more structured, more standardised, ready to be validated and integrated for tax supervision, precise for decision-making, and of course also to ensure fairness and the trust of taxpayers,” Bimo continued.

Not only that, the DJP will also expand tax auditing by partnering with law enforcement agencies and other ministries and institutions so that audits can run more smoothly and effectively.

“In addition, what we are also expanding is that DJP does not stand alone; we will cooperate with law enforcement agencies and other ministries and institutions. This is a message we are conveying to the public and the business world: it is very clear that this synergy is to ensure legal certainty, while protecting taxpayers’ rights and protecting healthy business competition,” Bimo explained.

The DJP will also continue to evaluate Coretax so that potential identification, collection, and law enforcement can be carried out ever more effectively using the system.

“Oversight of material compliance is the extra effort of our revenue engine at DJP. Certainly also with focused and continuous improvement of these efforts. We can look at audits, potential identification, collections, and law enforcement,” he said.
