New East Java Toll Road Set to Open Soon, Cutting Travel Time to Bali

A number of sections of the Probolinggo-Situbondo-Banyuwangi (Prosiwangi) toll road have finally been completed. In addition, two sections of the Prosiwangi toll road have obtained a Certificate of Proper Operation (SLO).

Citing data from the Toll Road Regulatory Agency (BPJT), the first section runs from Gending to Kraksan, spanning 12.88 kilometres. The second section runs from Kraksaan to Paiton, spanning 11.20 kilometres.

“The Probolinggo-Situbondo-Banyuwangi (Prosiwangi) Toll Road Section 1 and Section 2, totalling 24 kilometres, have been completed and are being prepared for the operational stage,” BPJT stated.

However, the operation of Sections 1 and 2 is awaiting the results of the Functional and Operational Feasibility Test (ULFO) for the Gending Interchange. This interchange will connect the Pasuruan-Probolinggo (Paspro) toll road with the Prosiwangi toll road.

Meanwhile, construction progress on Section 3, from Paiton to Besuki, has reached 100 percent. This toll road section is also still undergoing the ULFO process by BPJT.

With the Prosiwangi toll road connected to the toll road network in East Java, travel between regions is expected to become smoother, with more efficient travel times—from Probolinggo to Besuki reduced to 1 hour and 15 minutes—and logistics distribution towards the eastern part of Java can be further optimised.

“The presence of the Prosiwangi toll road will improve connectivity in the Tapal Kuda region, facilitate public mobility, and encourage logistics distribution efficiency in East Java,” BPJT stated.
