JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The new regulations on Export Proceeds from Natural Resources (DHE SDA), which will take effect on 1 June 2026, are seen as having the potential to increase foreign exchange reserves while also boosting the supply of foreign currency (valas) domestically.

Head of the Macroeconomic and Financial Market Research Department at Bank Mandiri, Dian Ayu Yustina, stated that the positive impacts of these regulations will be heavily influenced by Indonesia’s future export performance.

According to her, Indonesia’s export opportunities remain quite promising because prices of several global commodities are rising. This condition is viewed as capable of boosting Indonesia’s export value.

“Clearly, export proceeds are closely linked to the prospects of export growth itself,” she said during the Bank Mandiri Macro and Market Brief Q2-2026 presentation on Monday (11/5/2026).

Indonesia now does not only rely on major markets such as the United States and China. This is because Indonesia’s exports to several non-traditional countries are also experiencing increases.

“So the export outlook will certainly be influenced not only by global economic conditions, but there will be a kind of balance between global demand and the influence from prices. Because prices will also tend to rise,” she said.

Thus, if export values increase, the inflow of US dollars from exports into the country will also grow.

This situation can help strengthen Indonesia’s foreign exchange reserves and add to the supply of US dollars in the domestic market.

“This will certainly add to the domestic foreign currency supply and support foreign exchange reserves,” she said.

It was previously reported, citing Kontan.co.id, that the government has confirmed the new policy on DHE SDA will take effect on 1 June 2026. Currently, the government is preparing the official publication of the regulations that will detail its implementation.
