Jakarta (ANTARA) - GoSend, the logistics service from PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk (GOTO), has introduced the “Package Acceptance Code” feature to strengthen the verification system in its instant delivery service. This innovation is aimed at mitigating the risk of misdelivery, especially for high-value goods.

Head of Logistics at Gojek, Sohan Vaswani, stated that this step is a response to shifting societal habits, with people increasingly relying on instant delivery for various crucial needs.

“More and more people are relying on instant delivery services to support their daily activities, from household needs, business, work, to personal requirements. Instant delivery offers speed and security through its practical process, delivered directly from sender to recipient. Deliveries are also carried out by verified driver partners protected by insurance to minimise potential risks. Going further, GoSend introduces the Package Acceptance Code innovation as extra protection to help ensure the delivery process is safer until the package is received,” he said in an official statement on Friday.

Executive Director of the ICT Institute, Heru Sutadi, assessed that the use of one-time password (OTP) like this will become a new standard in the national logistics industry. According to him, ensuring goods reach the right hands is a crucial value proposition. He also emphasised that the system is quite easy to adopt because society is already familiar with similar security patterns in other digital sectors.

“The implementation of OTP-based Package Acceptance Code is highly relevant to address dynamic operational challenges in the field and has the potential to become an ideal practice and new standard, especially for high-value or sensitive deliveries. In addition, OTP-based codes are already familiar to the public for other security needs, making their adoption easier,” he added.

The implementation of this additional protection is welcomed positively by business actors who often send goods with high non-material value. Neysa Soediro, Co-Founder of Ruci Art Space, shared her experience in sending artworks that require special handling.

“For us, every work has a very personal value and is often not measurable solely by money. That’s why the Package Acceptance Code feature from GoSend is very helpful for us in ensuring every work truly arrives safely to the right recipient,” she concluded.

This feature can be activated for free through the booking page in the app. After that, the code will appear in the sender’s and recipient’s apps and can even be shared via WhatsApp if the recipient does not use the app.

The system will also automatically create a group chat in the app to facilitate communication between the sender, recipient, and driver, adding another layer of transparency during the delivery process.

GoSend also continues to include other supporting features such as live tracking and delivery insurance options with protection value up to Rp50 million.
