New Currency Exchange Service at Solo Balapan Station Tomorrow: Requirements Explained

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Area 6 Yogyakarta is providing a new currency exchange service for long-distance train passengers at Solo Balapan Station. The service is available exclusively on Friday, 13 March 2026.

The programme results from a partnership between PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) Operational Area 6 Yogyakarta and Bank Indonesia to assist the public in preparing for the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah celebrations.

Through this service, long-distance train passengers can conveniently exchange new currency before continuing their homecoming journey for Eid.

The facility is exclusively for long-distance train passengers whose scheduled departures or arrivals at Solo Balapan Station coincide with the currency exchange date. Passengers must present their travel tickets and identity documents, specifically a national identity card (KTP).

“Through our partnership with Bank Indonesia Yogyakarta-DIY, KAI Operational Area 6 is providing new currency exchange services at the station to facilitate our customers undertaking homecoming journeys. With this service, customers can conveniently exchange new currency before continuing their travel,” stated Feni in an official statement on Thursday (12/3/2026).

The maximum exchange limit is Rp 5.3 million per person in accordance with denomination packages determined by Bank Indonesia.

“KAI Operational Area 6 urges customers wishing to utilise this service to note the specified schedule and bring valid long-distance train tickets and their KTP on the exchange date. As this service is available in limited quantities according to available quota,” Feni added.

KAI Operational Area 6 hopes the new currency exchange service will help the public prepare for Eid celebrations whilst providing a more comfortable and memorable train travel experience for its customers.
