New Courier for Malaysia-Medan Ecstasy Network Arrested One Day After Recruitment, Paid Rp 700,000
The Drug Crime Directorate of the Indonesian National Police (Bareskrim Polri) has arrested R. Muhammad Hadi, also known as Muham, a courier for the Malaysia-Medan drug network in Medan, North Sumatra. Muham admitted that he had been recruited only one day prior and was promised a fee of Rp 700,000 to deliver the narcotics.
Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, Director of Drug Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, stated that Muham was recruited by an individual named Yuki to collect the drugs. Muham had been recruited on Wednesday (29/07) and was arrested shortly thereafter. “Muham was promised a fee of Rp 700,000 by Yuki upon the successful collection of the goods. He had already received an advance of Rp 300,000 via e-wallet transfer for accommodation expenses,” Brigadier General Eko said in a statement on Friday (31/07/2026).
Preliminary interrogations revealed that Muham was tasked as an ecstasy courier by Yuki, an acquaintance from his hometown in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra. He claimed that economic pressures forced him to accept the illegal job. “Muham has known Yuki for about five years, as they are from the same village. On Wednesday, 29 July 2026, at approximately 19:00 WIB, Yuki visited Muham’s house to offer the job of collecting ecstasy. Because Muham needed money for daily necessities and had been unemployed for some time, he accepted the offer,” Eko Hadi explained.
Muham was provided with a mobile phone to facilitate communication with the network. However, only one day after his recruitment, he was apprehended by the police. “On Thursday, 30 July 2026, at around 11:00 WIB, Yuki returned to Muham’s house to deliver the mobile phone that would be used for communicating regarding the ecstasy collection,” the officer added.
After collecting the ecstasy, Muham transported it to Yuki’s house in Tungtungan Village, Pancur Batu District, Deli Serdang. According to information provided by Yuki, the ecstasy was an order from an individual named Luken.
Muham was arrested by a joint team from the NIC Task Force and Sub-Directorate IV of the Drug Crime Directorate of Bareskrim Polri, led by Kombes Kevin Leleury and Kombes Handik Zusen, at a mall entrance in the Medan area, North Sumatra, on Thursday (30/07). During the arrest, police seized a backpack containing two large packages of ecstasy totaling 9,162 pills, as well as 68 grams of ecstasy powder and two mobile phones.
