Wuhan FiberHome International Technologies Co. Ltd. and PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk (WIFI), known as SURGE, have further strengthened their strategic cooperation through the signing of an extended partnership that broadens the scope of collaboration in telecommunications infrastructure development and the strengthening of the national digital ecosystem. The agreement was signed at the FiberHome booth during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 in Shanghai, China. This moment marks an important step in supporting the acceleration of Indonesia’s digital transformation while expanding equitable access to affordable internet for the public. Through this partnership, both parties are opening up opportunities for the development of a number of strategic initiatives. The collaboration includes the expansion of fixed broadband networks, strengthening the national backbone and optical access, developing Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) services, providing 5G Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) solutions, and implementing various future technologies to support cross-sector connectivity. In its implementation, the cooperation targets the construction of up to 3,000 FWA sites and the provision of up to 1.6 million FWA CPE units. Additionally, the collaboration includes the development of a National Cross-Island Backbone and Metro Access Optical infrastructure encompassing DWDM, MPLS, and OSP. Both companies are also targeting the construction of Full Turnkey FTTH Homepass solutions for up to 300,000 units, the provision of PON network devices such as OLT and ONT, the development of centralised solar power plant projects, and mobile communication systems for next-generation railways. For SURGE, the partnership is part of a continuous effort to realise the vision of building an affordable, inclusive, and sustainable digital foundation for Indonesia. With fibre optic networks continuing to expand in various strategic areas, the company seeks to deliver digital services that are more equitable, fast, and economical for the public. Director of PT Solusi Sinergi Digital Tbk, Shannedy Ong, assessed that the development of Indonesia’s digital economy requires collaboration that transcends technological and industrial boundaries. ‘The future of the digital economy is built on reliable, affordable connectivity that reaches more people. We view connectivity not merely as infrastructure, but as an enabler for progress. Every network built opens access to economic opportunities, education, public services, and innovation,’ he said as quoted on Thursday (25/6). ‘By strengthening the partnership with FiberHome, we aim to accelerate the creation of digital infrastructure that not only connects regions but also opens opportunities, empowers communities, and creates sustainable growth for Indonesia,’ Shannedy Ong continued. Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of Wuhan FiberHome Indonesia, Jason Lin, expressed his confidence in the growth prospects of Indonesia’s digital economy, which continues to show positive development. ‘Indonesia has a great opportunity to become one of the largest digital economic powers in the region. Through collaboration with SURGE, we hope to deliver technology and innovation that supports the development of robust, sustainable digital infrastructure ready to meet future needs,’ Jason Lin stated. The partnership not only focuses on business aspects but also reflects a shared commitment to supporting the national digital transformation agenda. By building infrastructure that reaches more communities, the collaboration is expected to strengthen digital inclusion while creating long-term benefits for all stakeholders. As the need for connectivity increases across various sectors, both companies believe that synergy between infrastructure providers and technology providers will be a crucial factor in accelerating the realisation of a more connected, productive, and competitive Indonesia in the digital economy era. This cooperation also marks a new chapter in a previously established strategic relationship. From a mutual understanding, the collaboration has now evolved into concrete steps oriented towards implementation and value creation. Through increasingly close synergy, both parties are committed to accelerating digital infrastructure development, expanding inclusive connectivity access, and encouraging the sustainable growth of Indonesia’s digital ecosystem.
