New Clongop Road Collapses Again, Traffic Opened and Closed
Heavy rain that lashed Kapanewon Gedangsari caused a landslide on the New Clongop Road in Gedangsari, Gunungkidul. As a result, most of the route was covered with landslide debris, necessitating an open-closed traffic system. The Head of Emergency and Logistics at the Gunungkidul BPBD, Edy Winarta, said the incident began when rain of moderate intensity hit Watugajah, Gedangsari, on Thursday (16/4/2025) around 11:00 p.m. WIB. Then, this morning at 06:20 a.m. WIB, residents discovered landslide material on the New Clongop Road. “After checking, it turned out there was a landslide on the New Clongop Road,” he said when contacted by reporters on Friday (17/4/2025). This was followed by reports from residents to the Gunungkidul Regency BPBD. Upon receiving the report, BPBD personnel immediately went to the scene to conduct an assessment. “The assessment results showed that the landslide material covered 70% of the New Clongop Road,” he stated. As for casualties or injuries, Edy said there were none. This was because during the heavy rain, officers immediately closed the route to the New Clongop Road. However, the landslide disrupted road access from Gedangsari to Klaten. Even now, personnel are still clearing the landslide material. “Motor vehicles can still pass, but an open-closed system is in effect because the landslide material has not been fully cleared,” he said.
