The child abuse case at Little Aresha Daycare in Yogyakarta has entered a new phase. The police have handed over the case file to the public prosecutor’s office.

The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Yogyakarta Police, Kompol Riski Adrian, said that coordination had been carried out with the public prosecutor’s office. The handover of the case file involving 13 suspects took place on Tuesday (2/6).

“Next, we will coordinate with the Public Prosecutor to determine the next steps,” he said in a written statement on Wednesday (3/6/2026).

Riski affirmed that the police are continuing to develop the investigation into the case. Further investigation is being conducted regarding corporate criminal violations involving the management of the educational institution. In addition, they are also investigating the possibility of the involvement of other parties who have responsibilities in the management of the institution.

“We are committed to overseeing the investigation process to the fullest extent so that all the facts can be revealed clearly and provide a sense of justice for the victims and their families,” Riski emphasized.

To date, at least 152 witnesses have been examined in connection with the case. The Head of the Unit for Women and Children of the Yogyakarta Police, Iptu Apri Sawitri, said that the examination of a number of witnesses is still being carried out to complete additional information as requested by the public prosecutor’s office.

“Currently, the investigation process is ongoing. We are still completing some of the additional information requested by the Public Prosecutor and waiting for the results of the psychological assessment and medical examination, which will be part of the evidence in this case,” explained Apri.

It is known that 13 people have been named as suspects and are in custody. The Chief of the Yogyakarta Police, Kombes Eva Guna Pandia, revealed that all 13 suspects are women. They are DK (51), AP (42), FN (30), NF (26), Lis (34), EN (26), SRm (54), DR (32), HP (47), ZA (30), SRj (50), DO (31), and DM (28).

“The first is DK, the Chair of the Foundation. The second is AP, the head of the school. The other eleven people are caregivers,” Pandia explained in a press conference at the Yogyakarta Police Headquarters on Monday (27/4) afternoon.
