New Chapter in Jokowi Diploma Case: Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa Transferred to Prosecutors Today
The case of alleged dissemination of fake diploma accusations against 7th President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has entered a new chapter. Polda Metro Jaya transferred Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa along with evidence to the South Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari Jaksel) in a stage two process today.
Prior to being handed over to the prosecution, the two suspects were held overnight at the Polda Metro Jaya detention centre after being moved from the Kramat Jati Police Hospital on Sunday evening (21/6).
“The latest update is that suspects Tifa and Roy S will be brought from the Kramat Jati Hospital tonight and held overnight at the PMJ detention centre,” said Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, when contacted by journalists on Sunday (21/6/2026).
Budi stated that investigators had coordinated with the Kramat Jati Police Hospital regarding the transfer of the two suspects. Subsequently, Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa were dispatched to the South Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office on Monday morning to undergo the stage two process.
“Next, tomorrow (today) at 09.00 a.m., they will depart together from Polda to the South Jakarta Prosecutor’s Office for stage two,” he said.
This handover was carried out after both case files were declared complete, or P-21, by the prosecution. Polda Metro Jaya previously emphasised that the arrest of Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa was part of a series of legal processes leading to the transfer of suspects and evidence to the prosecutor.
“This arrest is not a standalone action, but rather a continuation of the ongoing investigation process. The case files have been declared complete, or P21, by the prosecution,” said Budi Hermanto during a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya, Jakarta, on Friday (19/6).
Budi stated that the evidence in the case had also been declared complete and met the requirements. All stages of the investigation, he said, were conducted in accordance with criminal procedure law, upholding the principle of equality before the law.
“Thus, this step constitutes a clear and accountable legal basis,” said Budi Hermanto.
Polda Metro Jaya Director of General Criminal Investigation, Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, stated that the security measures for Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa were implemented to ensure the process of transferring the suspects and evidence proceeded smoothly.
“The security of the suspects, namely Mr RS and Ms TF, is part of the series of processes to carry out the transfer of suspects and evidence from Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya investigators to the public prosecutor of the DKI High Prosecutor’s Office in connection with the case files that have been declared complete, or P-21,” Iman explained.
According to Iman, investigators also conducted physical and mental health examinations of the suspects before the handover process was carried out.
“Furthermore, investigators will conduct a series of health examinations on the suspects, both physical and mental, so that the suspects are fit and can be held accountable for their actions,” he added.
During the process, the public prosecutor also confirmed with Roy Suryo and Dr Tifa to ensure that the evidence to be transferred matched the investigation results.
“We ensure that investigators will guarantee the suspects’ rights and obligations are protected in accordance with applicable law,” he added.
Iman further stated that the entire series of investigations, health examinations, and the transfer of suspects and evidence were conducted based on the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP) and applicable standard operating procedures.
“In order to ensure balance and control over the ongoing investigation process, the criminal procedure code has provided room for testing through the pre-trial mechanism. Therefore, the suspects, their families, or their legal representatives may utilise the control and testing mechanisms regulated within the criminal procedure code,” he concluded.
