New Chapter in Dr Icha's Death: Family Reports Alleged Intimidation to NTT Police

The family of the late Dr Eliza Princila Utami Pakaenoni, known as Dr Icha, has reported an alleged case of intimidation involving three members of the Timor Tengah Utara District House of Representatives to the East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police. Upon arrival at the NTT Police headquarters, the family proceeded directly to the Integrated Police Service Centre to file their report. The family members present included her parents, Gabriel Pakaenoni and Nur Azizah, as well as her two younger siblings, Tiara Maharani Dwi Pakaenoni and Eflin Pakaenoni. Eflin was seen carrying a framed photograph of her late sister as they walked to the service centre. Also present was the Deputy Director of Women and Children Protection and Human Trafficking Crimes at the NTT Police, Adjunct Chief Commissioner Samuel Sambolon. Dr Icha was found dead by hanging on 26 June 2026. Her death is suspected to be linked to intimidation by three members of the Timor Tengah Utara District House of Representatives on 13 June 2026, while she was on duty as a doctor in the emergency room at Leona Hospital in Kefamenanu. The NTT Police have taken over the investigation into the alleged intimidation, forming a joint investigation team to handle the case professionally, objectively, transparently, and based on evidence. The Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Commissioner Henry Novika Chandra, stated that the formation of the team was a follow-up to an assistance session with the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police to strengthen the investigation and inquiry process. He added that the NTT Police Chief had instructed that the case be handled comprehensively by involving various functions within the NTT Police and the district police. The investigation will prioritise scientific crime investigation methods, ensuring that all conclusions are based on valid evidence in accordance with legal provisions.
