New Case Emerges on Alleged Mining Permit Bribery, KPK Provides This Update
The government faces a policy dilemma with no truly comfortable options.
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has opened a new investigation. This case concerns alleged bribery for mining permits.
KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto confirmed the news of this new investigation. However, details of the case cannot yet be specified due to the varying levels of confidentiality in the investigation stage.
“Specifically, it may be because of the investigation,” said Setyo at the KPK’s Red and White Building in South Jakarta, quoted on Wednesday (8/4).
This matter is said to be a development from the case of alleged bribery involving former North Maluku Governor Abdul Gani Kasuba (AGK). The KPK hopes the public will be patient while waiting for the case to proceed to the investigation stage.
In the investigation stage, several parties questioned will be referred to as examined individuals. If it reaches the investigation stage, those examined will be called witnesses.
This search was conducted to gather evidence. Several items were seized by investigators.
The corruption trial of Hendi Prio Santoso has been postponed because he has not yet recovered from prostate surgery. Prosecutors are awaiting a doctor’s letter before the defendant returns to the trial.
