New Camry Brings Real Experience of Comfort and Luxury
With 46,589 units sold from January to April 2004, Toyota has
increased its domestic market share from 29 percent in 2003 to
32.5 percent. No doubt, this market share increase reflects
customers' confidence in Toyota brands, ranging from passenger
cars to commercial vehicles.
In a rapidly growing sedan market, Toyota's market composition
has risen from 39.9 percent or 3,674 units between January and
April 2003 to 42.8 percent or 5,207 units in 2004. This leading
position in the market was made possible through continuous
innovations.
The drive for innovation has found noble expression in the Toyota
Camry (Camry), a medium sedan that truly answers customers'
longing for more comfort and luxury in their daily activities. It
is no wonder that since its introduction to the market, Camry has
won prestigious awards, including: Indonesian Car of the Year
2002, Best Car in Medium Sedan Market in Indonesian Car of the
Year 2003.
Sexier and more luxurious than its competitors, Camry has won the
hearts of sedan lovers in this country. The market's positive
response to Camry has raised its market share from 23.1 percent
or 368 units in last year's first quarter to 31.5 percent or 453
units in this year's first quarter. Essentially, Camry led the
market for the medium sedan in the first quarter of 2004.

New Camry which is more luxurious and elegant to meet the
increasing demand as well as to maintain consumer confidence in
Toyota," said PT Toyota-Astra Motor Johny Darmawan.
More luxurious appearance
The New Camry looks far more elegant and sexier than ever. Its
esthetically designed front has captivated people's imagination.
The new front includes a new radiator grill with chromed vertical
lines, new bumper with a modern fog lamp, newly designed head
lamps with HID projector for Camry's 3.0V type. The same sleek
appearance extends to the side that has chromed side-protection
molding and grip-type door handles. Camry's newly designed
wheels, 215/60R16 with seven alloy spokes for Type 2.4 G and
215/55R17 with 11 alloy spokes for type 3.0 V, with bigger-sized
tires give it more dynamic appearance.
Camry's newly designed luxurious LED rear combination lamps and
chromed rear license plate is the finishing touch on its high-
class image.
High comfort cabin
The spacious two-tone color cabin in the New Camry has various
integrated sophisticated features, such as a new dashboard (wood
panel for 3.0V type) a Multi-Information Display (MID with MID
buttons integrated into the steering wheel's structure. The
display provides important information on the car's condition,
including sonar sensor, fuel consumption, outer-cabin temperature
and average speed.
The steering wheel itself has two versions, namely a four-spoke
polyurethane wheel with an MID switch panel for Type 2.4G and one
covered with leather and wood that is equipped with an MID switch
and audio panels for Type 3.0V.
In addition to all these modern features in the cabin are
exclusive-looking and comfortable leather-covered seats (3.OV,
2.4G A/T) with an eight-directional seat power adjuster on front
seats (3.OV). The shift lever knob, made of leather and wood and
chrome (3.0V) strengthens the luxury of the New Camry's cabin.
To heighten the driving comfort, New Camry is equipped with a new
audio system, AM/FM radio with six CD in-dash auto changer (all
types) that can be easily controlled through audio buttons on the
steering wheel structure (3.0V). An Auto AC completes the comfort
of the cabin with rear air register (3.0V and 2.4G A/T).
With the New Camry 3.0V, passengers can enjoy additional
features, such as electro-chromatic inner mirror, electric rear
sun shade that provides more comfort for backseat passengers as
well as cruise control that enables the driver to drive the car
at a stable speed without stepping continuously on the
accelerator.
Engine
Powered by a V6 24V DOHC engine with ETCS-i (Electronic Throttle
Control System-intelligent), the Camry 3.0V has greater power and
cleaner emission (Euro Step 2). The Camry 2.4G also has more
efficient fuel consumption. (VVT-I engine with Camry 2.4G)
Drivers of Camry (3.OV, 2.4G A/T) are able to shift gears far
more softly both on ascending as well as descending roads with
Super ECT (Electronically Controlled Transmission). MacPherson
Strut suspension with a stabilizer in the front suspension and
dual-link independent strut with a stabilizer in the rear
suspension adds to the comfort of driving Camry.
Safety
Camry 3.0V adopts VSC (Vehicle Stability Control) that is capable
of keeping the car stable on sharp curves or slippery roads. All
models of Camry has the GOA (Global Outstanding Assessment) body,
ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brake-force
Distribution) and BA (Brake Assist). It also features back sonar
and corner sensor that assists the driver while parking.
The New Camry has an immobilizer and Toyota Auto Alarm with
integrated remote auto alarm in the car's key. With a vast
network of service centers, supported by 156 sales outlet and 129
service and spare parts centers throughout the country that are
always ready to assist their customers, driving the New Camry is
indeed problem-free.
