New bus terminal plan put on hold

TANGERANG (JP): A plan to build a bus terminal in the Poris Plawad area of Cipondoh district has been postponed until amendments to the existing two city bylaws are issued, an official of the Tangerang Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) said on Saturday.

Dadang Durachman said that the area in which the terminal was to be built was a residential area, according to city bylaw No. 14/1994 on guidelines for the development of Tangerang, and city bylaw No. 19/1994 on spatial planning.

"The Tangerang Council must immediately agree to the amendments of the bylaws, since the terminal plans must not be put on hold any longer," Dadang told reporters.

The bus terminal, meant to replace the old Kalideres terminal in West Jakarta, is intended for intercity buses from Sumatra and Java, and those from the capital. (41/ylt)
