New building on Jl. Dewi Sartika

The increased volume of traffic on Jl. Dewi Sartika, East
Jakarta, has prompted the authorities to enforce the regulation
for offices and shops on that street to provide adequate parking
space on their premises.

Inhabitants of the area have also been informed by the
kelurahan (community head) office that the street will be widened
by 14 meters in the near future. Some residents may have to leave
because there will not be much left of their houses after the
roadwork.

It is strange that right now a multilevel building is being
erected at Jl. Dewi Sartika 310B, next to the Ayam Suharti
restaurant. This construction seems to be at variance with the
city planning. It is common practice to set up a board with
information on a building in construction, its permit number, its
function, etc. No such board can be seen on the site.

In order to give assurances to citizens of the Dewi Sartika
area, could the East Jakarta mayoralty inspect the building being
constructed and take the necessary steps if the construction does
not comply with regulations?
