New Breakthrough! UI-IDX to Build Investment Ecosystem on Campus
DEPOK – The Faculty of Administrative Sciences, University of Indonesia (FIA UI), together with the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), is preparing to establish an Investment Gallery within the campus environment. The presence of this facility is aimed at expanding financial literacy while bringing students closer to the practices of the Indonesian capital market.
The Investment Gallery is designed as a learning tool that integrates academic knowledge with an introduction to investment activities. Students will be able to study capital market instruments, understand investment risks, access information and data, and obtain access to securities account openings through partner securities firms.
The development of this facility is part of the initiatives of the Social and Cultural Innovation Cluster (SOCI) and the Entrepreneurial Finance and Sustainable Business Cluster (EFSB) of FIA UI.
FIA UI plans to realise the IDX Investment Gallery through collaboration with securities companies holding Exchange Member status. Such cooperation is required to support the establishment of the gallery in physical form and to strengthen the capital market learning ecosystem in higher education institutions.
FIA UI also hopes for the involvement of securities companies willing to act as partners in the development of this facility.
The Dean of FIA UI and Chairperson of the SOCI Cluster, Prof. Dr. Dra. Retno Kusumast::tuti Hardjono, M.Si., stated that the establishment of the IDX Investment Gallery is part of the university’s efforts to encourage social and cultural innovation oriented towards sustainable development.
“Through the SOCI and EFSB Clusters, we want to encourage social and cultural innovation for sustainable development. The IDX Investment Gallery will serve as a means for students to understand the capital market in a responsible, inclusive, and long-term oriented manner,” she said.
The Chairperson of the EFSB Cluster at FIA UI, Prof. Ir. Bernardus Yuliarto Nugroho, MSM., Ph.D., expressed that an understanding of finance and the capital market needs to be part of the competence of the younger generation.
According to him, collaboration with the IDX can support the development of human resources possessing the ability to manage investments professionally and uphold ethics.
“Financial and capital market literacy is a vital competence of this century. Collaboration with the IDX strengthens our EFS and B Cluster in preparing human resources capable of managing investments professionally and ethically,” he noted.
IDX Prepares Education and Mentorship
The Director of Development at IDX, Iding Pardi, expressed support for the plan to establish the IDX Investment Gallery at FIA UI.
He explained that the investment gallery can serve as a learning ecosystem that brings academics, students, and the public together with capital market information and educational activities.
“We welcome the establishment of the IDX Investment Gallery at FIA UI. This gallery is not merely a physical space, but a capital market learning ecosystem connecting academics, students, and the community. The IDX will support this through education, publication, and the facilitation of partner Exchange Members,” said Iding.
Meanwhile, the Head of Regional Management Unit 3 of the IDX Market Development Division, Kemas Muhammad Rumaiyar, emphasised the importance of governance and technical assistance in the establishment process of the gallery.
In his view, the development of the facility must follow applicable regulations, whether for a physical room model or a digital gallery.
“We will ensure that the establishment process of the IDX Investment Gallery at FIA UI proceeds according to regulations, for both physical and digital models. Technical assistance, manager training, and reporting through RDIS will be part of this cooperation,” he explained.
Investment Gallery Designed to be Inclusive and Technology-Based
From a social perspective, Dr. Rachma Fitriati, M.Si., M.Si. (Han), from the FIA UI SOCI Cluster, assessed that the investment gallery could serve as a means to expand public access to capital market knowledge.
She emphasised that the development of financial literacy needs to observe the principles of inclusivity, ethics, and sustainability.
“The IDX Investment Gallery is more than just a facility. It is a social innovation: how a university provides inclusive, ethical, and impactful capital market access for society. Financial literacy must be part of sustainable social change,” said Rachma.
Furthermore, Dr. Mohamad Agus Setiawan, ST, MT, IPU, from the FIA UI EFSB Cluster, highlighted the importance of the technological aspect in capital market learning.
He mentioned that students need to gain an understanding of market data, trading technology, information governance, and risk management as preparation for facing developments in the digital finance sector.
“In the digital era, the IDX Investment Gallery must serve as a real laboratory for students. They can understand market data, trading technology, information governance, and risk management. This is the competence required by Indonesia’s digital finance talent,” he said.
In its implementation plan, the IDX FIA UI Investment Gallery will consider both a physical room model and/or a Digital IDX Investment Gallery. The choice will be adjusted to the needs and availability of facilities within the campus environment.
In addition to being a place to obtain information and participate in educational activities, the gallery is planned to provide access to public publication data and capital market regulations. Students and the public can also gain access to securities account openings through cooperation with partner Exchange Members.
The strategic meeting between FIA UI and IDX was also attended by Dra. Eva Andayani, M.Si., from the Business Administration Study Programme; Dr. Dede Suryanto, S.Sos., M.Si., a lecturer from the Financial Administration and Banking Study Programme, Vocational School UI; and officials from the SOCI and EFSB Clusters of FIA UI.
Through this planned collaboration, the IDX Investment Gallery at FIA UI is expected to develop into a capital market reference centre, a venue for research and study, and a learning space that connects the academic world with investment practices in the Indonesian capital market.
