The new leadership of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is expected to accelerate the equitable distribution of nutrition services in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions, particularly in Nabire and Central Papua. Marsel Asyerem, the BGN Coordinator for Nabire, stated on Thursday that accelerating services in 3T areas is crucial to ensure communities in remote areas have equal rights to quality nutrition services. “We hope that 3T regions become a priority, so that no more Indonesian children are left behind in obtaining access to good nutrition,” he said. According to him, equitable nutrition services are an integral part of building superior Indonesian human resources, including supporting the realisation of the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision. Beyond accelerating services in 3T areas, he also expressed hope that the new BGN leadership would implement a comprehensive overhaul of the governance system to improve service quality for beneficiaries. “We are confident the new BGN leadership can carry out a thorough system reform, so that services to the community become increasingly better and the benefits of the programme can be felt evenly,” he stated. As the BGN Coordinator for Nabire, his team is ready to support BGN policies and programmes through synergy with the local government, partners, and all stakeholders. “We are ready to work, collaborate, and oversee every policy aimed at improving the quality of nutrition services for the community,” he said. BGN Nabire recorded that the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Programme (MBG) in its region had reached 32,002 beneficiaries during the first semester of 2026. The MBG beneficiaries in Nabire consist of 28,113 students and 3,889 individuals from the 3B Group, which includes pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers. The programme’s implementation is supported by 14 Nutrition Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG) spread across the districts of Nabire, West Nabire, Teluk Kimi, and Yaro.
