New BGN Chief Sudaryono Warns Against Name-Dropping for Illegal Gain
National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Head Sudaryono has emphasised his seriousness in improving the governance of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme following his inauguration by President Prabowo Subianto. Sudaryono warned parties against engaging in illegal practices by misusing his name.
“I want to take this good opportunity, covered by all media, to convey that becoming head of this agency is a responsibility, and I want to use this platform to stress to the public that I have family, friends, colleagues, whoever they are, including alumni and so on,” Sudaryono said at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/7/2026).
Sudaryono stated it would be untrue if any party claimed to be his close associate to offer special services in exchange for certain rewards. He affirmed he would eradicate the abuse of authority in the implementation of the MBG programme.
“And I want to convey that as the head of this agency, if later there are people, for example, offering services, perhaps in exchange for compensation, claiming to be my people, my family, my friends, my colleagues, alumni with me and so on, which are deemed inappropriate, I assure you that is not true,” he said.
“And I ask that the relevant parties be reported to the authorities. Because we are truly serious about handling this matter,” he continued.
Furthermore, the former Deputy Minister of Agriculture said he would resolve all issues within the BGN according to applicable procedures. Sudaryono pledged not to give special treatment to anyone in efforts to improve the BGN’s governance.
“In addition, I also want to convey to all friends, family and colleagues who know me and whom I know, who love me and whom I love, I apologise if I may not give special attention or priority if the discussion is about work. I want problem-solving, I want the resolution of issues, follow-ups and so on to be carried out according to the system’s mechanisms,” Sudaryono said.
Sudaryono alluded to the modus operandi of illegal practices by government officials in closed rooms. He ensured that all forms of implementation of the president’s flagship programme would be carried out transparently.
“So we are no longer about trust in person, then we talk in dimly lit, dark rooms, in private rooms at restaurants, but everything must be discussed in bright and transparent rooms and seen by people. I think it is important to convey this,” he said.
