New BGN Chief Sudaryono Vows Zero Tolerance for Corruption in Free Nutritious Meals Programme

The newly appointed Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sudaryono, has urged the public to immediately report to the authorities if they encounter anyone claiming to be close to him or using his name to solicit rewards or offer services related to the free nutritious meals (MBG) programme. Speaking at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon shortly after his inauguration, Sudaryono emphasised this stance to prevent ‘name-dropping’ practices that often occur in strategic government programmes. ‘I have a family, I have friends, colleagues, and so on, and I want to make it clear that as the head of BGN, if there are people offering services, perhaps for a reward, claiming to be my people, my family, my friends, my alumni, and so on, which is not appropriate, I assure you that is not true, and I ask that such individuals be reported to the authorities,’ said Sudaryono. He also publicly apologised to his family, friends, and acquaintances, stating he would not give them special attention regarding work matters. The new BGN chief stressed that he would not tolerate any space for corrupt, collusive, or nepotistic practices within the agency. ‘Everything must be discussed in open, transparent, and visible spaces,’ he asserted. President Prabowo Subianto officially inaugurated Sudaryono as the definitive Head of BGN, replacing Nanik S. Deyang, based on Presidential Decree Number 78P of 2026.
