New BGN Chief Sudaryono Vows Zero Tolerance for Corruption in Free Nutritious Meal Programme
Newly inaugurated National Nutrition Agency (BGN) head Sudaryono has stated that neither he nor his family owns any kitchen involved in the free nutritious meal (MBG) programme. He made the statement to affirm there is no conflict of interest in the programme’s implementation, vowing zero tolerance for corruption, mark-ups, and embezzlement within the BGN and the MBG.
“No, no, no, and I do not have an MBG kitchen, nor does any of my family have a kitchen or an SPPG,” Sudaryono said, responding to journalists’ questions after his inauguration at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Sudaryono explained that MBG is a priority programme with a large budget and national scope. Consequently, its execution must be transparent and accountable, with every policy answerable to the public. “Zero tolerance for corrupt practices and mark-ups, and embezzlement, which are perhaps the most hated by all Indonesian people. I am here to assure you that from this second, I am committed to working as well and as cleanly as possible,” he stated.
In an open interview broadcast live by several national television stations, Sudaryono also publicly urged the public to report directly to law enforcement if they find anyone using his name to solicit rewards or offer certain services related to MBG. He then openly apologised to his family members, friends, and close associates, stating he would not give “special attention” if they wished to discuss work-related matters concerning the BGN and MBG.
“I want problem-solving, I want issue resolution, follow-ups and so on to be carried out according to mechanisms and systems,” Sudaryono said. “Everything must be discussed in well-lit, transparent rooms, and seen by people.”
President Prabowo inaugurated Sudaryono as the definitive Head of BGN, replacing Nanik S. Deyang, at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday afternoon. Sudaryono was appointed as Head of BGN based on Presidential Decree Number 78P of 2026 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of the Head of BGN, signed by President Prabowo on 22 July 2026.
