New BGN Chief Sudaryono Vows Zero Tolerance for Corruption in Free Nutritious Meal Programme

Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Sudaryono has committed to not allowing any illegal practices in the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme under his leadership. He stressed that he will not tolerate corruption and collusion. “I ask for your prayers, support, and blessings for us together with Deputy Head Bu Arumsari and Pak Trenggono, along with the entire BGN leadership and all stakeholders. Here we have SPPG, SPPI, partners and others. Pray for all of us to be trustworthy and to carry out this programme as well as possible, zero tolerance for corrupt practices and ‘hengki-pengki’ and pickpocketing, which is perhaps what the entire Indonesian people hate the most,” said Sudaryono after being inaugurated at the State Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday (22/7/2026). Sudaryono said the appointment as Head of BGN is a great mandate for him. He touched on the very large budget his institution holds to realise the MBG across Indonesia. “Of course, this is a great mandate for me. This is a great mandate because the Free Nutritious Meal programme is a big, grande programme, and one of the priority programmes of the administration of Mr Prabowo Subianto and Mr Gibran Rakabuming Raka,” he said. Furthermore, the former Deputy Minister of Agriculture said he will resolve all issues at BGN in accordance with applicable procedures. Sudaryono promised not to give special treatment to anyone in efforts to improve BGN’s governance. “In addition, I also want to convey to all friends, family and colleagues who know me and whom I also know, who love me and whom I also love, I apologise if I do not then give special attention or do not provide some kind of priority if what is being discussed is about work. I want problem solving, I want to resolve issues, follow-ups and so on to be carried out according to the system mechanism,” said Sudaryono. Sudaryono touched on the modus operandi of illegal practices by government officials in closed rooms. He ensured that all forms of implementation of the president’s flagship programme are carried out transparently. “So we are no longer about trust in person, then we talk in dimly lit, dark rooms, in private rooms at restaurants, but everything must be discussed in bright and transparent rooms and seen by people. I think it is important for me to convey this,” he said.
