New BGN Chief Sudaryono Vows Collaborative Approach, Cannot Work Alone
Sudaryono, head of the National Nutrition Agency (Badan Gizi Nasional, BGN), has pledged to prioritise collaboration and openness to input from the public and stakeholders. He made the remarks after being inaugurated by President Prabowo Subianto as BGN head, replacing Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, yesterday.
Sudaryono said the implementation of the free nutritious meal programme (MBG), which falls under the BGN’s responsibility, could not possibly be delivered by one person alone but requires the involvement of many parties.
“We are not Superman. It is of course impossible for me to resolve the issues or this programme on my own. Together with the whole team, both active members and all stakeholders, we want to listen more and receive more input from all sides,” said Sudaryono at the State Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, as quoted from a press statement by the Government Communication Agency (Bakom) of the Republic of Indonesia.
He emphasised that the Nutrition Agency under his leadership will open the widest possible space for the public to convey criticism, suggestions, and ideas that can strengthen the implementation of nutrition programmes. Every piece of input, he said, will serve as evaluation material in the decision-making process.
“If perhaps irregularities are found, or there are new ideas, we are ready to receive input and make it a consideration in taking decisions,” he said.
The former Deputy Minister of Agriculture affirmed his commitment to carrying out his duties as BGN head professionally. “Rest assured, at this moment I am committed to working as well and as cleanly as possible,” said Sudaryono.
Yesterday, President Prabowo officially inaugurated Sudaryono as BGN head, replacing Nanik Sudaryati Deyang, who had served only 45 days at the agency responsible for the MBG programme.
Sudaryono’s inauguration took place at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. His appointment was based on Presidential Decree Number 78/P of 2026 concerning the Dismissal and Appointment of the BGN Head.
