The Bandung City Government has stated that the new operator of Bandung Zoo, PT Fauna Land Ancol, is obliged to pay a fixed contribution of Rp4.3 billion per year as part of the cooperation agreement for managing the area. Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan said this obligation must be fulfilled immediately after the signing of the cooperation agreement. “Once the agreement is signed, they must immediately pay the fixed contribution of Rp4.3 billion. After that, they are directly responsible for animal feed and all operations,” Farhan said in Bandung on Thursday. According to him, with the appointment of the new operator, the transition process for managing Bandung Zoo will commence shortly. These stages include preparations for area revitalisation, strengthening conservation functions, improving animal welfare, and reopening the zoo to the public. Farhan stated the Bandung City Government ensures this cooperation provides long-term benefits for the city, both in terms of conservation and regional asset management. In addition to strengthening conservation functions and public services, the new operator is also committed to revitalising the area, developing facilities, and making investments that support the future operational sustainability of Bandung Zoo. He explained that the operator selection process has resulted in a cooperation scheme considered capable of providing optimal benefits for the city government as the asset owner, while guaranteeing the availability of investment support to restore the quality of the area. “The most important thing for us is the certainty of Bandung Zoo’s future. We want to see this area come back to life, its animals more prosperous, its conservation function stronger, and its benefits greater for the people of Bandung,” he stated. Farhan added that the city government will continue to oversee the management transition period to ensure all agreed commitments, especially regarding conservation, animal welfare, public services, and the utilisation of regional assets, proceed according to regulations. “We will ensure the entire transition process runs smoothly and all commitments made by the new operator are realised concretely,” he said.
