New Armada Launches Skylander R25 Double Decker with Luxurious Cabin
JAKARTA – Coachbuilder New Armada has made a bold entry into the national commercial vehicle scene with the launch of its latest double-decker bus body, the Skylander R25 Double Decker (DD), at Busworld 2026. Operated under PO UTrans, the double-decker stands proudly on a premium German MAN chassis. Externally, the Skylander R25’s signature fierce and aggressive aura is strongly maintained. New Armada introduced distinctive touches to the main lighting area with special ornaments, making the body silhouette appear more dynamic while in motion. Deddy Hermawan, Development Design at New Armada Coachbuilder, explained that the face modifications were inspired by eye makeup techniques to enhance the vehicle’s character. “The Skylander R25 DD’s concept draws from eyeliner to shape the eyes for a sharper, more attractive appearance,” Deddy told Kompas.com recently. He added that emphasising the eye corners was intentional to make the narrow-set headlights project a more menacing look. Additionally, the new facial proportions were designed to balance the tall stature of the double-decker. Beyond lighting, the front windscreen border component, commonly known as ‘bando’, also underwent redesign. For the Double Decker variant, New Armada designed the bando with a much more minimal profile. “The bando has been made thinner near the windscreen and extended sideways. Its long, slim design imparts an aerodynamic impression,” he said. Turning to the rear, New Armada applied a different design approach to the rear air circulation system. According to Deddy, the engine heat and rear AC exhaust areas have been redesigned to be more exposed, giving a bold impression. Inside, PO UTrans’ double-decker cabin offers a highly luxurious class division for passengers throughout the journey. The lower deck is focused on maximum comfort, featuring executive class seats with leg rests. Notably, two exclusive sleeper compartments are integrated into the lower deck for passengers seeking full privacy. Upon stepping onto the upper deck, passengers are greeted by a unique configuration. At the front, a segregated compartment is provided, suitable for first-class experiences or group travel. The remaining space from the middle to the rear is fully occupied by spacious executive seats. A luggage compartment is positioned at the very rear, with a toilet on the lower deck.
