New APLGI Chairman Budiarsa Sastrawinata Prioritises Golf Promotion
Budiarsa Sastrawinata was elected unopposed as Chairman of the Indonesian Golf Course Owners Association (APLGI) for the 2026-2030 term at the National Members Meeting (RUANAS) held at Damai Indah Golf’s BSD Course in Banten. He previously served as APLGI’s First Chairman alongside M. Tachril Sapi’ie, who had been Chairman for two terms from 2018 to 2022 and 2022 to 2026.
APLGI, established on 19 July 1995, comprises 58 member golf courses spread across Indonesia. The association was created to provide a professional platform for members to enhance golf course construction, maintenance, and management in line with technological developments, improve service facilities and course management quality, and facilitate the exchange of experiences and knowledge to resolve common issues.
“We owe thanks to Mr Tachril for steering APLGI for eight years. Many achievements have been made, which we will continue. Golf promotion is APLGI’s top priority moving forward. Additionally, we must enhance the quality of golf itself so Indonesia can compete internationally. Golf course owners play a crucial role in supporting our athletes to improve their skills,” said Budiarsa, who is also Director of PT Ciputra Development Tbk and President Director of PT Damai Indah Golf Tbk. He added that golf course owners love the sport and would willingly support its development.
Budiarsa has been actively involved in supporting Indonesian golf achievements. He is a co-founder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Ciputra Golfpreneur Foundation (CGF), which has organised two prestigious tournaments for decades: the Ciputra Golfpreneur Junior World Championship (CGJWC) and the professional Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament, both part of the Asian Development Tour (ADT) calendar.
At the RUANAS, the committee selected the theme ‘New Leadership, New Spirit’. ‘This theme was chosen with the hope that the new leadership will bring fresh momentum to further enhance and develop the golf industry we all love,’ Tachril stated in his address.
During his term, APLGI has implemented several initiatives to promote golf in Indonesia. A key programme is the inaugural Indonesia Golf Festival 2025, scheduled to be held again in October 2026.
In addition to electing a new chairman, members, via two newly formed commissions, jointly drafted proposals and work plans for APLGI’s 2026-2030 term.
