Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Netzme Kreasi Indonesia, in collaboration with Ruangguru, has launched ‘Gang Dagang’, a financial and digital literacy programme for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The programme was launched at the Jakarta City Hall on Sunday (17/5), with support from the Jakarta Provincial Government and the Bank Indonesia Jakarta Representative Office.

Suharini Eliawati, Assistant for Economy and Finance of the Jakarta Provincial Secretary, stated in a press release in Jakarta on Monday that the programme aligns with the local government’s efforts to drive digital transformation and increase MSME capacity. “We welcome this programme, as it aligns with the spirit of Jakpreneur and the commitment of the Jakarta Provincial Government to encourage digital transformation and enhance the capacity of MSME players. As a national centre for economy and digital transformation, Jakarta is considered a strategic location for the launch of the first cohort of the Gang Dagang programme,” said Suharini.

Several challenges frequently faced by MSME owners were identified, including the mixing of personal and business finances, difficulties in calculating the cost of goods sold (COGS), and the suboptimal use of available digital payment systems. The ‘Gang Dagang’ programme is designed using a gamification approach—learning through play—to improve MSME understanding of financial management and the use of digital technology in business operations.

In its initial stage, the programme will involve 50 selected MSME players chosen through an open selection process, with a curriculum spanning five months. Roes Dina Martha, Acting Head of the Licensing and Payment System Policy Implementation Division of Bank Indonesia Jakarta Representative Office, noted that collaboration between the private sector and educational institutions can strengthen efforts to accelerate MSME digitalisation.

“Moving forward, we hope such initiatives can create synergy between the private sector, government, and authorities, and continue to contribute to accelerating MSME digitalisation, mastery of the payment ecosystem, and the strengthening of an inclusive and competitive regional economy,” said Roes.

During the programme, participants will take part in periodic challenges titled ‘Sales Race’ every two weeks to encourage an increase in non-cash transactions within their respective businesses, using a ranking system as part of the game mechanism.

Vicky G. Saputra, CEO of PT Netzme Kreasi Indonesia, stated that the programme aims to strengthen the capabilities of MSME players so they do not merely use digital payment systems but also understand more structured financial management. “Indonesian MSMEs need the accompanying literacy. Gang Dagang is our commitment to building an ecosystem that not only provides access but also enhances the capabilities of business owners so they are not just transacting digitally, but are also able to grow from those transactions,” said Vicky.

Arman Wiratmoko, Chief of Corporate Strategy and Financial Officer at Ruangguru, expressed support for the learning programme, which is designed to be more interactive for MSME owners who have limited time. He noted that the gamification approach can increase participant engagement and strengthen knowledge retention. The programme’s curriculum covers basic financial management, financial recording, profit and COGS calculation, debt and emergency fund management, as well as digital finance and access to capital. In addition to the programme for selected participants, the ‘Gang Dagang’ game can also be accessed by the general public through an online platform as a means of learning financial and digital literacy.
