Netizens Flood Minister Raja Juli's Instagram Demanding Bromo Ticket Refunds, Here's What Management Says

The closure of the entire Mount Bromo tourist area due to forest and land fires in the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) has prompted tourists who have already purchased tickets to question the refund mechanism. Several prospective visitors voiced their complaints in the comments section of Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni’s Instagram post. They requested clarity on the refund procedure after the government temporarily halted all tourist activities in the Bromo area. The questions arose after Raja Juli reported on the progress of handling the fire in the TNBTS area. In his post, Raja Juli stated that the government had established an Incident Command to strengthen coordination in handling the fire. He also ordered the closure of the entire TNBTS tourist area so that firefighting operations could proceed more optimally while protecting tourists and officers. One netizen admitted to having difficulty obtaining information about the ticket refund process. Another prospective visitor asked for confirmation regarding tickets for a planned visit on 16 August 2026, questioning whether the funds could be returned if the Bromo area remained closed by that date. Other comments suggested that prospective visitors monitor the official account of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Office (BB TNBTS). The management had previously announced the suspension of tourist activities while explaining the options available to ticket holders. However, some netizens still claimed not to understand the channels and stages for submitting a refund. The BB TNBTS has provided options for rescheduling and refunds. The certainty regarding tourists’ tickets is stated in the official announcement from BB TNBTS, which was also published via its Instagram account. Through announcement number PG.18/T.8/BIDTEK/HMS.01.07/B/08/2026, BB TNBTS stated that all access to the Bromo tourist area was halted after the fire in the Bromo Caldera expanded. The closure applies to all entry points, namely Cemoro Lawang in Probolinggo Regency, Wonokitri in Pasuruan Regency, Jemplang and Coban Trisula in Malang Regency, and Senduro in Lumajang Regency.
