Netflix, PUBG, Roblox Submit Child Protection Self-Assessment Reports to Komdigi
A number of platforms have reported their self-assessment to the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) regarding child protection on their respective services. Among those that have complied are Netflix, PUBG, and Roblox. This obligation follows the three-month mark since Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 on Electronic System Governance for Child Protection, or PP Tunas, officially came into force. Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid explained that 175 Products, Services and Features from 64 Electronic System Operators had submitted their self-assessment results as of 9 June 2026. It has been exactly three months since PP Tunas was implemented at the end of March 2026. Currently, there are around 175 Products, Services and Features under 64 Electronic System Operators that have completed their self-assessment and submitted it to the Ministry of Komdigi, Meutya said in an official statement. Aspects that must be evaluated include identifying the risk level of the platform for child users under 16, potential exposure to harmful content such as violence, pornography and bullying, the readiness and accuracy of age verification systems, as well as content moderation mechanisms and the availability of parental control features. Meutya explained that the evaluation results will serve as the basis for determining the platform’s risk category and its suitability for specific age groups, covering risks related to content, contact with strangers, addiction, health and others. Because we are using a risk-based approach, each risk must be reviewed one by one; the process indeed takes time. We measure every risk, she explained. Indonesia has opted for a mechanism that not only protects children but also encourages platforms to improve features and governance, aiming to make the digital environment safer for young users. Meutya noted that this approach differs from several countries that impose blanket restrictions on children’s access to social media. Platforms must also be willing to change for the better. That is why we measure the changes they make, including features designed to be safer for children, Meutya said. She also reminded platforms that have not yet submitted their self-assessment to fulfil their obligations promptly, otherwise they risk being automatically classified in the high-risk category. Platforms that have submitted their self-assessment include OTT services such as Netflix, Vidio, HBO Max and Disney; gaming platforms including Roblox, PUBG Online, Crossfire, Age of Empire Mobile, Valorant, Free Fire and Mobile Legends; e-commerce platforms like Shopee, Tokopedia, Lazada and TikTok Shop; payment system platforms Dana, Gopay and Flip.id; and other categories such as ChatGPT and Grab.
