Netflix Plans to Re-enter Russian Market and Begins Trademark Registration
Moscow (ANTARA) - The US-based streaming service Netflix is attempting to register its trademark in Russia, according to a RIA Novosti report on Wednesday (25/3). After reviewing the electronic database of Russia’s Federal Service for Intellectual Property (Rospatent), RIA Novosti found that the trademark application submitted by Netflix Inc. was lodged with the agency in March. If the trademark registration succeeds, Netflix will be able to sell software and applications for accessing entertainment content, headphones, virtual reality (VR) headsets, and even humanoid robots in Russia. Netflix, the world’s largest streaming company by number of subscribers, suspended its services in Russia along with several other Western companies due to the Ukraine crisis.
