Netanyahu Threatens Unilateral Action, Israel Ready to Strike Iran Without US

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has signalled that his country is prepared to take unilateral military action against Iran without involving the United States. The signal was delivered amid negotiations between Tehran and Washington, which are said to have entered an advanced stage to end the war over the last five months.

Netanyahu, as reported by Anadolu Agency and Palestine Chronicle on Thursday (6/8/2026), made the statement on Wednesday (5/8) local time. In his statement, Netanyahu once again affirmed Israel’s determination to prevent Iran from possessing nuclear weapons. He also hinted that the military option remains open, regardless of the ongoing diplomatic developments.

"Today we heard the Commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Ahmad Vahidi, declare that Iran intends to continue developing nuclear weapons," the Israeli PM said. "As Prime Minister of Israel, I am determined to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons," Netanyahu stressed.

Although he described the US as Israel’s greatest ally, Netanyahu asserted his determination to do whatever is necessary to guarantee Israel’s security. Netanyahu’s statement emerged as Qatar, acting as mediator, confirmed that negotiations between Iran and the US have reached an advanced stage. The two countries are said to have exchanged draft proposals as part of the negotiation process.

Qatari Foreign Minister Majed al-Ansari stressed that joint efforts by all parties to reach a diplomatic solution are still ongoing. At the same time, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that attempts to overthrow the Islamic Republic have failed.
