Netanyahu Dismisses Trump's Anger: He is the Best Friend
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has responded calmly to recent anger expressed by US President Donald Trump towards him. He emphasised that both parties are in agreement regarding the objective of disarming Hezbollah to achieve peace between Israel and Lebanon.
Trump confirmed in an interview published on Wednesday (3/6) in the New York Post that he had a confrontation with Netanyahu two days prior, during which he reportedly lashed out at his close ally with harsh language. Trump’s frustration stemmed from concerns that Israeli operations against Hezbollah could jeopardise ongoing diplomacy with Iran and undermine efforts to maintain a fragile regional ceasefire.
“You are fucking crazy. What are you doing?” Trump reportedly exclaimed to Netanyahu upon learning of Israeli military actions in Lebanon.
Netanyahu addressed the dispute casually during an interview with the US television channel CNBC, stating that he and Trump are aligned on the necessity of addressing the Lebanese militant group, Hezbollah. “Hezbollah is an Iranian proxy that points weapons at the people of Lebanon and uses Lebanon as a platform to launch terror missiles at our cities and killer drones against our civilians,” Netanyahu said, as reported by AFP on Thursday (4/6/2026).
“So, if we want to save Lebanon, if we want to achieve Israel-Lebanon peace, as I desire, we must disarm Hezbollah and we must demilitarise Lebanon. I know that this is a shared goal between the President and me, and that is what we must do,” Netanyahu added.
Netanyahu stated that he and Trump always find ways to resolve their differences, though he declined to provide specific details regarding their recent conversation. “We have many agreements; we agree on the key issues. There are tactical differences. We always find a way to resolve them, and we do so as good friends. We can disagree in the morning, and by the afternoon, we have taken joint action,” the Israeli leader remarked.
When asked if his relationship with Trump had changed, Netanyahu replied, “No. It is a great relationship, because he is the best friend Israel has ever had in the White House. He respects me. I respect him. We always find a way to resolve our differences.”
