Netanyahu Declares Israel Will Eliminate Iran's 'Terror Regime'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that Israel will eliminate Iran’s ‘terror regime’. Netanyahu is determined to ensure that Iran can no longer threaten Israel with missiles and nuclear bombs.

Netanyahu’s statement was made as ongoing negotiations to reach a peace agreement between the United States and Iran appear to have stalled. He delivered these remarks during a speech at the ceremony for the appointment of Major General Roman Gofman as the new head of Israel’s intelligence agency, Mossad, succeeding the retiring David Barnea.

“We will not allow the Iranian regime to turn back the clock. We will not allow them to acquire nuclear weapons; we will not allow them to threaten our existence,” Netanyahu said in his speech, as reported by AFP and Iran International on Wednesday (3/6/2026).

“This terror regime is destined to vanish from the world, and we will help to make this happen; this regime will no longer threaten us with nuclear bombs and thousands of deadly ballistic missiles,” the Israeli Prime Minister added, referring to Iran.

Netanyahu’s harsh rhetoric regarding Iran was also shared during a farewell ceremony for Barnea held on Monday night (1/6). Netanyahu claimed that the foundations of the Iranian government system have “cracked” and will ultimately collapse.

“Let anyone planning crimes against Iran know that their plans will fail. The price they will pay will be very high. The price Iran has paid is already very high,” Netanyahu remarked, according to statements shared by the Israeli Prime Minister’s office via X.

“The foundations of the terrorist regime in Iran have cracked. This regime will never return to what it once was, and I tell you—this regime will ultimately collapse,” he asserted.

Israel, alongside the US, has been conducting large-scale attacks against Iran since late February. Tehran responded with waves of missile and drone attacks targeting sites in Israel and Gulf nations hosting US military assets. Most of the fighting has ceased since a ceasefire was implemented in early April, which was subsequently extended indefinitely by US President Donald Trump. Peace efforts between the US and Iran, mediated by Pakistan, are ongoing in the hope of permanently ending the war.
