Nervous During Police Raid, Man Found With One Kilogram of Cannabis
A 40-year-old man, identified as S, was arrested by police during a night-time raid in Karawaci, Tangerang City. The suspect, who appeared nervous, was found carrying a 1kg cannabis package in his bag. The discovery began when officers from the Tangerang City Metro Police Resort conducted the ‘Cipta Kondisi’ operation under the JAGA JAKARTA+ initiative early on Thursday, 29 May 2026, on Imam Bonjol Street in Karawaci. Officers became suspicious of a Yamaha Mio motorcycle rider who seemed anxious and tried to avoid inspection. ‘After being stopped and searched, the 40-year-old entrepreneur was found with several ready-to-sell cannabis packages in his shoulder bag,’ said Tangerang City Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Raden Muhammad Jauhari, in a statement on Saturday, 30 May 2026. Police discovered nine ready-to-use cannabis rolls and eight cannabis packages wrapped in brown rice paper, with an initial total weight of over 40 grams. Officers then conducted further investigations at the suspect’s rental house in Pondok Jagung, North Serpong, South Tangerang City. ‘In the second location, we found a large cannabis package wrapped in brown adhesive tape weighing 1,011 grams gross, or over 1 kilogram. Additionally, digital scales suspected to be used for packaging narcotics for sale were seized,’ he added. During interrogation, the suspect admitted to distributing cannabis in small packages for sale to buyers in Tangerang and surrounding areas. ‘The suspect’s modus operandi involved packaging cannabis into small ready-to-sell units for resale,’ he continued. From the total seized cannabis weighing 1.05 kilograms, police estimate that at least 1,051 individuals were saved from potential drug abuse. For his actions, the suspect faces charges under Section 114(2) in conjunction with Section 111(2) of Act No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics, as amended by Act No. 1 of 2026. The potential penalties range from a minimum six years in prison to life imprisonment or the death penalty.
