Neighbours Remember the Late Corporal Farizal, TNI Soldier Who Fell in Lebanon
Corporal Farizal Rhomadhon, a TNI soldier attached to the Task Force of the Garuda Contingent on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission, fell in an Israeli attack in Lebanon. He passed away on Sunday (29 March) local time.
The late soldier was a resident of Padukuhan Ledok RT 17, Dukuh Ledok. Wakidi (60) knew Farizal as someone who grew up in that hamlet. From childhood until graduating high school, the deceased was known never to cause problems in the community.
“His life was fine. He was a good person. He was never, what’s the term, naughty,” said Wakidi to reporters when met at the funeral home on Monday (30 March 2026).
According to him, Farizal, the youngest of two siblings, was known to care about his environment. He often participated in Karang Taruna activities and helped with community events.
“Yes, he was good. Whatever activities there were, he joined and supported them, even now if the young people have events, he often helped,” he explained.
Wakidi knew that Corporal Farizal had one daughter and a wife from Kebumen. To his knowledge, the deceased was stationed in Aceh. The last time he met him was during Eid al-Fitr last year.
“Yes, not this year, but last Eid he came home. I met him in the field on Eid al-Fitr day,” he said.
Regarding the news of Corporal Farizal’s death, Wakidi said he received the information that morning from the victim’s relative who is also a soldier.
“The notification was this morning, just that one of my villagers (Farizal) encountered an obstacle,” he stated.
Regarding the burial plans, Wakidi mentioned that the family wishes the body to be buried in the public cemetery in the Kulon Progo area. However, he still needs to communicate further with the family.
“Yes, here, to be buried here. Earlier from the Kodim they already asked, tomorrow the grave will be at the Heroes’ Cemetery or public cemetery. Well, I told the family to bury him in the public one. In Nambangan Ledok,” he explained.
Additionally, he has not yet confirmed when the body will arrive at the funeral home.
“The information hasn’t come yet, up to now no further information,” he concluded.
