Neighbours Heard Fierce Argument Before Wife Was Murdered by Husband in West Jakarta

Neighbours have revealed they heard a fierce argument before a woman with the initials R (40) was killed by her unofficial husband, ES (30), in Tambora, West Jakarta.

“It began on Friday, 19 June 2026, at around 2 a.m., when the complainant and witnesses (the victim’s neighbours) heard a commotion between the perpetrator and the victim (husband and wife) from inside the house,” said Tambora Police Chief AKP Wahyu Hidayat, as quoted by Antara news agency on Monday (22/6/2026).

The murder was discovered by neighbours in the early hours of Friday, 19 June 2026, at around 2 a.m., on Jalan Padamulya VIII, RT 001 RW 09, Angke Village, Tambora, West Jakarta. The neighbours did not immediately check on the shouting because they did not want to interfere in domestic matters.

“The witnesses did not want to get involved because it was a household matter between the perpetrator and the victim,” he added.

The body was found later that afternoon after a witness heard the victim’s five-year-old child mention that the mother had been strangled by the perpetrator. “R also recounted that the victim had died,” Wahyu added.

Upon hearing the child’s remarks, the witness informed other residents. The residents then peeked into the victim’s house and found that she had died.

“They then peeked into the victim’s house together and saw the victim slumped in the living room with fluid coming from her mouth,” he continued.

The discovery was immediately reported to the local neighbourhood association head and forwarded to the police. Shortly after, police officers arrived and processed the crime scene.

“The Criminal Investigation Unit picket then visited the crime scene and found the victim slumped with a bedsheet tied around her neck and fastened to a window trellis,” he added.

Police officers examined several witnesses at the location. The perpetrator was arrested shortly afterwards.
