Negligence causes fire

AMBON, Maluku: A city shopping center caught fire on Saturday
night, destroying two shops and a billiard hall,Antara reported
yesterday.

It took five fire trucks more than an hour to put out the
blaze.

Chief of Ambon police precinct Lt. Col. Suroto said early
investigations showed that the fire was caused by a "negligent"
shop owner who failed to put out a small fire in his kiosk.

"We have detained four people, including the shop owner, for
further investigation," he said.

No casualties were reported. (rms)
