Neglected land reaches 671 ha

TANGERANG (JP): At least 671 hectares, or 31 percent of the 2,158 hectares of land appropriated by developers here since 1993, are still empty, an official said on Wednesday.

The head of the Tangerang office of the National Land Agency, Satmodjo S.W., said the neglected areas belonged to developers who possessed location permits for several uses, including housing, industry and public services.

In the past five years, Satmodjo said, his office had issued 619 location permits covering 4,639 hectares of land.

Ninety-one permits covering 3,374 hectares have been given for housing, 285 permits covering 636 hectares for industry and the remaining 243 other location permits for the rest of the land for public services, he said. (41/jun)
