“Sustainable development is not just about completing research and publishing it. More importantly, it is about how we can deliver the impact of our work, knowledge, and research to society,” he said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Yuliarto underscored that a culture of research and science is the foundation for creating excellent and globally competitive higher education institutions.

He noted that the experience of various world-class universities shows that laboratories play a central role in building a productive scientific and research culture.

This is further supported by lecturers and professors who cultivate a productive academic atmosphere.

Therefore, he called for the creation of a supportive network ecosystem among higher education institutions through mentoring mechanisms and collaboration, ensuring that quality improvements in higher education can occur more inclusively and sustainably.

“Currently, we are developing a mentorship system where more advanced higher education institutions serve as mentors for other universities,” he said.

Through its “Impactful Higher Education, Science, and Technology” vision, the ministry places higher education, science, and technology as drivers of social and economic transformation.

This push focuses on food security, healthcare, energy, maritime affairs, defense, digitalization and artificial intelligence, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, as well as downstreaming and industrialization.

To achieve this, Minister Yuliarto invited all global partners to build stronger and more meaningful collaborations to realize an inclusive, prosperous, and sustainable future through the strategic role of higher education, science, and technology.
