Two necklace-snatchers, initials KWG and DA, were riding a motorcycle in the Perumahan Taman Kosmos, Kedoya Utara, Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, when they cornered and snatched a woman’s necklace. Police say the offence falls under Article 477 of the KUHP on aggravated theft, with a maximum penalty of seven years’ imprisonment. The incident occurred on the morning of Sunday, 3 May 2026, as the victim was on her way to the market to buy daily necessities. ‘Then, after leaving the market, when crossing the road on her way home, the victim was cornered by two people on a motor vehicle,’ said Kebon Jeruk Police Sector Chief Kompol Nur Aqsha. ‘There were two perpetrators; they rode together, the one in the back acted as the executor,’ he added. Members of the public stopped the attack; a witness rammed his vehicle into the suspects’ motorcycle, causing them to fall. The four-gram gold necklace was recovered, and the victim immediately reported to the Kebon Jeruk Police Sector. The police then quickly arrested the two perpetrators and took them to the Kebon Jeruk Police Station. The victim was reported to be unharmed.
