Nearly Complete: Riau Regional Police Finish 22 Bridges for Rural Communities
The commitment of Riau Regional Police in supporting the Presisi Red-White Bridge construction programme to ensure the safety and educational access of rural communities has yielded significant results. Twenty-two bridges distributed across Riau Province have now reached 100 per cent completion in construction.
Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan stated that this humanitarian operation is more than physical construction, but rather the National Police’s efforts in creating social inclusion and expanding access for rural communities.
“This development is expected to become a new economic lifeline for residents and a bridge to the future for schoolchildren. We will continue to oversee until all targets are achieved 100 per cent,” said Inspector General Herry Heryawan on Friday 27 February 2026.
Until Thursday 26 February 2026, the Riau Regional Police Emergency Bridge Task Force, comprising 250 combined personnel from Mobile Brigade, Water Police, Public Order Police, and district police units, continued working extended hours to complete the remaining construction projects.
The Mobile Brigade Commander of Riau Regional Police, Senior Commissioner I Ketut Gede Adi Wibawa, as task force leader, reported that of the 22 total construction targets, the majority of infrastructure is already benefiting communities. The project includes construction of new bridges, school renovations, and installation of bore wells.
“Based on orders from the National Police Chief and Riau Police Chief, our primary focus is ensuring resident safety and guaranteeing schoolchildren have adequate access. Currently, 22 bridges are completely finished, whilst 5 others are in the finishing stages,” said Senior Commissioner Ketut.
Several completed bridges include: Gobah Tambang Village bridge in Kampar; Tanjung Betung and Desa Giti suspension bridges in Rokan Hulu; SDN 014 Putat, Sungai Bakau, Pematang Damar, and MTsN Jamaatul Darussalam bridges in Rokan Hilir; I Koto Gasib and Kampung Rawang Air Putih bridges in Siak Regency; Semulut SDN 018, Tanjung Gemuk Village, and Kuala Merbau Village bridges in Meranti Islands; Tanjung Beludu, Desa Belimbing, Pasar Peranap, and Pasir Bongkal bridges in Inhu; Tanjung Pasir bridge plus complete renovation of SDN 020 Sapat and bore well in Kuala Indragiri, Indragiri Hilir.
