Nearly 50 kgs of ganja seized
PEKALONGAN, Central Java: Local police have seized a total of 47.9 kilograms of dried marijuana and arrested two alleged drug dealers in separate raids here and in Purwokerto, police chief Lt. Col. Taufik Ridwan said on Tuesday.
He said on Monday the raids were initiated following reports from local residents on drug-dealing activities in the two regencies.
The ganja is suspected to have been brought from Aceh, Taufik said.
"We're now investigating the case," he said, without naming the suspects.
In Karanganyar regency, police also confiscated 1.8 kilograms of dried marijuana and arrested its owners, identified as Hoposan Siagian, 32, and Anang Pujianto, 46.
The two were apprehended in a house in Malangwijan village, according to Karanganyar Police chief Lt. Col. Sudarsono.
"We believe that they've been operating for quite some time and selling the drugs to locals," he said. (har/edt)
